May Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Elizabeth Fernandez and Isaias Guzman, May’s Athletes of the Month!

Elizabeth Fernandez is a first-year varsity starter who:

Has had a tremendous senior season as one of the leaders of the Lady Bulldogs Softball team. Elizabeth has patiently waited to become a “stand-out” player for the Lady Bulldogs in the pitcher’s circle. Elizabeth has recorded nearly 60 innings pitched with a 3.89 ERA and 109 strikeouts, held teams to 5 hits or less in seven outings, and featured two shout-outs to post a personal record of 11 wins with only 10 losses in the 2018 spring season. Her personal determination to excel as this season’s starting pitcher, despite her novice, was a major reason the Lady Bulldogs had such a successful season - earning them the #3 seed in the PCCA County Tournament and the #8 seed in the NJSIAA North 1 Group 4 state tournament. Elizabeth also made her presence known at the plate, batting .312 for the Lady Bulldogs with a number of key hits. As member of the Academy of Finance, Elizabeth has a current-year GPA of 3.356 and ranks in the top one-third of her graduating class. We wish to congratulate Elizabeth and the entire Lady Bulldogs Softball team on a great 2018 Spring season.

Isaias Guzman is a four-year varsity starter who:

Has had a tremendous senior season as one of the captains of the Bulldogs Baseball team. Isaias is truly a five-tool player for the Bulldogs as he can run, field, throw, hit for power, and hit for contact. At the plate, Isaias has been productive for the Bulldogs in the clean-up spot batting .517 with 17 RBIs, 12 Runs and 15 Hits, featuring 3 doubles, 1 triple, and a Homerun through the start of this spring season. Isaias’s contributions helped lead PCTI to earn the #1 seed in the PCCA County Tournament and the #3 seed in the NJSIAA Tournament. With their amazing 17 wins and only 3 losses (8-2 divisional record) the Bulldog Baseball team has already locked-up the Big North Conference Liberty Division Title. They are eagerly awaiting the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament and chasing that State Sectional Championship ring. The Bulldogs have also advanced to the NJTAC Tech Tournament finals and will play GCIT in the finals of that tournament. Best of luck to Isaias and the entire Bulldog Baseball team!
