Ismael Echavaria is a standout student in the PCTI STEM, Academy of Computer Science, where he’s turned his early fascination with technology into a clear career path. Reflecting on why he chose this program, Ismael shared, “When I was younger, I realized the world was evolving to be more technological, and that was something I wanted to pursue.” His curiosity and determination have driven him to excel in one of PCTI’s most rigorous academic tracks.

Being named Student of the Month is a proud and affirming moment for Ismael. “Being named Student of the Month feels rewarding and a testament to the work I put in. I am really proud of what I’ve achieved during my time here,” he said. His strong work ethic and dedication are reflected in his impressive 4.24 GPA.

Ismael is an active member of several organizations, including SkillsUSA, FBLA, and the World Language Honor Society, among others. “I enjoy partaking in those clubs because it’s an excellent way for me to spend time doing what I like and helping my community,” he explained. Outside of school, Ismael enjoys exercising, watching TV shows, traveling when possible, and spending time with his family.

After high school, Ismael plans to attend a top university and earn a degree in the technology field, a goal he’s been set on for years. His ambition and forward-thinking mindset position him well for success in the ever-evolving tech industry.

When asked what advice he’d give to incoming freshmen or classmates, Ismael shared a thoughtful perspective: “Cease any opportunities that are given to you, because oftentimes your biggest regrets in life are opportunities that you miss.”

Reflecting on his time at school, Ismael credits the STEM Academy with shaping both his academic and personal growth. “Being a part of PCTI STEM has helped me become a better individual, not just academically but as a person, through the experiences I’ve had and the people that I’ve met here,” he said.

Leila Perrotta is an exceptional student in PCTI’s School of Performing Arts – Theater, where she showcases her talent in acting, singing, and dancing. Her decision to pursue this CTE program stems from a lifelong passion for performing arts. “I chose it because of my passion for acting, singing, and dancing – performing arts in all three mediums,” Leila shared.

Earning the title of Student of the Month is a proud and validating moment for Leila. “It feels very validating to be named Student of the Month. I worked really hard through my four years here, and it feels nice to have some recognition for that,” she said. Her academic excellence shines through with an impressive 4.2 GPA.

Leila is an active and dedicated member of the school community, participating in four honor societies, including serving as president of the Thespian Honor Society. She also performs with the concert band and contributes to the Performing Arts School musical. Outside of school, she continues to explore her creativity by playing in a band and enjoys spending time with friends through her weekly Dungeons and Dragons games.

After high school, Leila plans to attend a four-year college to double major in history and musical theater, combining her academic curiosity with her artistic ambitions.

When asked what advice she would give to incoming freshmen or classmates, Leila said, “Work hard. If you put in the work and put in the intention, the reward will come back to you.”

Reflecting on her time at PCTI, Leila credits the school’s diversity and inclusive environment with helping her grow both personally and professionally. “Being a part of PCTI has helped shape me with its diversity and all the different groups of people from all walks of life. It’s really opened my mind and opened my eyes to a wide world and prepared me for the next steps I’m going to take.”

Shawn Wieczorek is an accomplished student in PCTI’s School of Culinary Arts, specializing in Baking and Pastry. His passion for the culinary world began at a young age, “I chose this because as a kid I always said I wanted to be a chef when I grow up, and this program allowed me to further explore that career path,” Shawn shared.

Being named Student of the Month came as both a surprise and a proud moment for Shawn. “I was very excited when I saw that I was named Student of the Month, I wasn’t expecting it. I am very proud to be named Student of the Month,” he said. His hard work and dedication are reflected in his impressive 4.31 GPA.

Beyond the classroom, Shawn is highly involved in PCTI’s academic and extracurricular life. He is a member of the Gifted and Talented program, the National Honor Society, and has participated in the ProStart Management Competition, where his team earned second place. This year, he will also represent PCTI in the SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl. In his free time, Shawn enjoys watching movies, reading, and indulging his love for trivia by tuning into Jeopardy and similar shows.

After graduation, Shawn plans to attend college to study Baking and Pastry and pursue a career in the field. His commitment to refining his craft and following his childhood dream continues to motivate him every step of the way.

Offering advice to his peers, Shawn said, “My advice is to always be involved—which is something I wish I followed myself. I wasn’t always involved, but now that I am, I’ve been given more opportunities.”

Reflecting on his journey, Shawn credits PCTI for preparing him for success beyond high school. “Being part of PCTI has helped shape me because it has given me more experience to be able to excel in my career path for the future,” he said.
