STEM National Honor Society

Service: Service is generally considered to be those actions undertaken by the student, which are done with or on behalf of others without any direct financial or material compensation to the individual performing the service. In considering service, the contributions this candidate has made to the school, classmates, and community will be reviewed. A mandatory ten hours of community service are expected to be completed prior to applying to the STEM Academy Chapter of the PCTVS National Honor Society and an additional fifteen hours of service are to be completed yearly.

Leadership: Leadership will be considered in terms of the offices a student has held in school or community organizations, as well as effective participation in any co-curricular activities offered at PCTVS.

Character: Character is probably the most difficult to define. Our chapter selection process will seek a candidate of character that demonstrates the following six qualities: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

Membership Eligibility: Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be members of the junior class. All members will be inducted as juniors and serve through their senior year if eligible to continue with membership. To be eligible for selection for membership in this chapter, the candidate must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at STEM Academy. Candidates eligible for election to the chapter shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards, candidates shall then be considered based on their service, leadership, and character.

Upon criteria completion the Faculty Council will make final determinations and notify candidates of their acceptance into the STEM Academy National Honor Society. A written notification to the candidate and their parents will include an invitation to the annual induction ceremony.

STEM National Honor Society members are the leaders of our school.
