PCTI Sweeps Passaic County Drive-in Film Festival

The Academy of Motion Pictures was not the only one rolling out the red carpet this spring! At the recent 17th Annual Passaic County Film Festival, compelling films created by students from PCTI’s School of Communication commanded the screen and delighted attendees, sweeping three of five categories and earning Overall Grand Prize.

The award-winning PCTI student films included:

Overall Grand Prize: “1980s Horror Film” by Asia Brown

Documentary:

1st Place - “Silk City” by Jeremiah Bugg
2nd Place - “From the Front Lines” by Camryn Keegan
3rd Place - “The Realty of Eating Disorders” by Ashley Bergemann

Short Film:

1st Place - “Day of the Dead” by Pamela Hernandez
2nd Place - “Stutterboy” by Samantha Olson
3rd Place - “Gone, But Never Forgotten” by Brendon Pares

Music Video:

1st Place - “1980’s Horror Film” by Asia Brown
2nd Place - “Driver’s License” by Angelina Guzzo
3rd Place - “Hell N Back” by Aidan Strungis

Public Service Announcement

3rd place TIE - “Standards” by Brianna Pares and “Bike Safety” by Janiah Valenzuela

Due to COVID restrictions, this year’s event was held as a unique drive-in viewing at Preakness Valley Golf Course. The 34-member Passaic County Film Commission, consisting of business owners, film instructors, and politicians, selected the winning films from a pool of 65 entries submitted in February. The student films will be uploaded to the PCTVS Youtube channel for public viewing.
