PCTVS Students Raise Funds to Sponsor 1,278 Wreaths for Veterans’ Gravesites In Honor of “National Wreaths Across America Day”

It was an extraordinary day to remember! The chilly, rainy weather didn’t stop over 300 attendees from participating in “National Wreaths Across America Day” to lay more than 1,275 wreaths on the graves of veterans at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa! At this noble event, students and staff of Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools (PCTVS), as well as family members, veterans and guests convened to remember and honor those who have served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedoms.

Student ambassadors from PCTVS’s NJROTC program, Student Council, End Racism and Sexism Everywhere (ERASE), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), National Honor Society (NHS) and others joined faculty and staff as they laid wreaths throughout the cemetery. Local veterans and volunteers were also in attendance to assist in the wreath-laying activities and observe the day’s events.

Held on December 14th, this patriotic event was part of the nationwide initiative “National Wreaths Across America Day”, in which similar wreath-laying ceremonies were held simultaneously across the country at nearly 2,000 participating locations. At each event, the shared goal is to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there, to spread patriotism and ensure all of our nation’s heroes are remembered.

Over the past two months, students and staff of PCTVS in Wayne have volunteered to host various fundraisers to sponsor holiday wreaths to honor veterans interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. These initiatives uphold PCTVS’ unwavering dedication to remembrance and patriotism, while continuing the vision of “Wreaths Across America” to educate younger generations about veterans’ service and patriotism, and the importance of remembering the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedoms.

“I’d like to express a heartfelt thank you to all students, staff and community members who participated in this remarkable event,” said Diana C. Lobosco, Chief School Adminstrator at PCTVS. “The day was a remarkable demonstration of community, honor and patriotism as we continue to remember the bravery

and sacrifice of our veterans. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with ‘Wreaths Across America’ in the future through our shared vision to ‘remember, honor and teach’.”
