For the second year in a row, Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) welcomed 7th and 8th grade students from July 24th through August 4th for an enriching Summer STEM Academy experience! Those in attendance chose one of three areas of study: Pre-Engineering, Computer Science, or Bio/Environmental Science.
The academy ran from 9am to 12pm, with students participating in cross-curricular group challenges, as well as individual projects in their program area. Current PCTI students volunteered their time to act as teacher’s assistants.
The enriching two week experience gave participants a glimpse into the future of PCTI high school students. In 2018, the school will open its very own academy dedicated to the STEM field.
PCTI’s Summer STEM Academy seeks to gauge the interest of middle school students across Passaic County and to provide enriching and educational experiences to future engineers, scientists and technology experts in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.
