Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) was selected as among the best of the best when Advance CTE recognized eleven Career and Technical Education programs with the national Excellence in Action Award, a prestigious honor that announces the receiver as a program that best represents CTE. These programs provide clear pathways to college and careers, rigorous academic and technical coursework, strong partnerships with industry leaders, and impactful work-based learning experiences. PCTI, the largest Career and Technical high school in New Jersey, received the Excellence in Action Award for Graphic Arts, in the Arts, A/V Technology & Communications Career Cluster category.
All students enrolled in PCTI’s Graphic Arts program have the opportunity to earn college credits through dual enrollment programs with local postsecondary institutions. More than ninety percent of students of the program graduate with the Visual Communication Adobe Photoshop certification, along with a portfolio of work that demonstrates a command of their discipline. Students also benefit from instructors who stay connected with the Graphic Arts practice. The integration of the latest technologies gives graduates a cutting-edge advantage when entering secondary education or the workforce.
“I am so proud of these exemplary programs and all they offer learners across the country,” said Kimberly Green, Executive Director of Advance CTE. “Boasting impressive graduation and completion rates, credential attainment, and hands-on learning experiences, these programs demonstrate what high-quality CTE has to offer, and its ability to set students up for success across the spectrum of careers.”
Award recipients were honored at the 2017 Advance CTE Spring Meeting at a luncheon where 30 administrators, educators and students traveled across the country to be recognized.
