Sophomore Chosen for Junior Scholars Program

Kamyrn Nelson

Kamyrn Nelson was one of a hundred students from the NYC area selected to participate in the 13th annual Junior Scholars Program. The pre-college black studies program at the Schomburg Center/NYPL utilizes an inquiry and project-based approach to teach students from ages 11-18 about Black American History.

The program’s Saturday sessions run from 10am-3pm over the course of 25 weeks. During this time, Kamyrn will attend college-style lectures and presentations, engage in dialogue with scholars, participate in group discussions/activities, generate research projects/portfolios, and create collaborative media/arts projects. She has elected to participate in classes that strengthen her knowledge of dance.

Congratulations to Kamyrn Nelson on being selected to participate in this outstanding opportunity!
