Christian Velez-Vargas

Christian Velez-Vargas is an ambitious young man who has dedicated his life to helping others. This Paterson local is a member of the School of Service Careers. His education in Criminal Justice will serve him well, especially in his future career of choice. Christian is set on becoming an FBI Agent.

For now, Christian is submerging himself in the PCTI high school experience. He is a prestigious member of the NJROTC and acts as the Master Chief. Such a title affords Christian great responsibility. He is in charge of maintaining drill, bearing, and the safety of his fellow cadets. Throughout his service, Christian was selected to attend the Leadership Academy & Sail Training. In past years, he was named PCTI’s Distinguished Cadet and Cadet of the Quarter.

When asked why he joined the NJROTC program, Christian said, "At first it was all about the uniform, but looking back I realize I’ve learned so much about life skills, with a focus on building a future and college planning. It’s a one-of-a-kind support system that I’m glad to be a part of.”

One of Christian’s greatest assets is his time management skills. This Bulldog is involved in the Drill Team, National Honor Society, and SkillsUSA. He is the President of the Paterson Youth Council, a group of young emerging leaders that learns about government at the state level. Christian also works for his city’s Habitat for Humanity.

Along with these great accomplishments and a packed schedule, Christian maintains a GPA that exceeds 4.0! He is ranked in the top three percent of his class and has accumulated twenty-five college credits from both Seton Hall and Passaic County Community College.

With all of his accumulated knowledge and experience, Christian looks forward to attending a university and graduating with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Law. His first choice is the US Naval Academy. He has also applied to Rutgers,Seton Hall, and many others colleges.

Christian’s dream is to become an FBI Agent and to continue serving those in need. When asked about advice for future Bulldogs, he said, “Strive to do the right thing even when no one is watching. Live by a code of integrity.”
