January Student of the Month 2014

Thomas Savoie

Thomas Savoie is a young man whose core values of hard work and determination have paved the pathway to success. Hailing from Hawthorne, this student of the Academy of Finance is diligent in his pursuit of education as evident in his achievement of being named in the top two percent of his class. This academically fierce Bulldog has a GPA that exceeds 4.1!

Thomas’ thirst for knowledge knows no bounds. He is an avid studier of languages and has taken six courses while attending PCTI. This includes Spanish 1 & 2, French 1 & 2, and Arabic 1& 2. When asked about this particular interest, Thomas said, “There’s something about languages. I enjoy figuring them out and I feel the courses are invaluable.”

Such educational savvy has allowed Thomas to achieve honors for his entire PCTI career. His success is no doubt influenced by the eight AP and honors courses he’s taken, which in turn have earned him nineteen college credits.

Outside of achieving stellar grades, Thomas is involved in Gifted and Talented, through which he has participated in numerous Quiz Bowls. He is also an FBLA member and has been selected to participate in NJ Boys State.

In addition to his studies and participation in clubs and organizations, Thomas is a Co-Opstudent who works for the school store. His responsibilities include creating fliers and ads, managing social media, and providing other services behind the scenes.

This forward thinking Bulldog has his eyes on the future. Thomas’ interest in supply and demand and buying and selling has led him to the conclusion that one day he seeks to own and run his very own business. “I aim to be responsible for my own success. Being my own boss will allow me to invest in myself,” Thomas said.

He’s off to a very good start. Thomas has already been accepted into Fairleigh Dickinson University, William Paterson University, Montclair State University, and Passaic Community College. He plans to continue on the business track and is seeking to pursue a complimentary degree in Sports Management or Physical Science.

Thomas credits much of his success at PCTI to his family. It is because of their help and support that he has set a solid foundation for all future learning.

When asked about his advice for other students, Thomas had this to say, “Come to PCTI with the goal of reinventing yourself. Here, you have the opportunity to branch out and diversify.”

Congratulations, Thomas! May your determination never wane. Good luck in the future!
