February Student of the Month 2014

Passaic local, Mateusz Rowicki, possesses the ambition necessary to succeed in the world after high school. This academically inclined Bulldog found his home in the School of Engineering Technology and has already begun planning his professional career.

His story starts in the 6th grade when Mateusz was introduced to a summer program at NJIT. Here, he built model cars and bridges. "It was one of my first steps in thinking out of the box. I’ve been intrigued by Engineering ever since.”

He is already well prepared. Mateusz has earned fourteen college credits and has been on the Honor Roll for most of his academic career. He is ranked in the top 4% of his class with a GPA 3.97! Mateusz was even a past member of PCTI’s Circle of Success.

He has accomplished much while in high school. Mateusz is a member of the Engineering Club, National Honor Society, the Robotics Club and SkillsUSA. In fact, he’s competed in and won two gold medals for robotics in the SkillsUSA State competition. Mateusz will once again aim to repeat this amazing feat during his senior year. But that’s not all; he was also selected for participation in New Jersey Boys State.

Outside of school he is an assistant T-Ball Coach at the Garfield YMCA. In addition, this bilingual bulldog has journeyed back to Poland where he embraced his roots as a Camp Counselor. Recently, Mateusz can be found working his Co-Op career at TerraSense. He routinely spends time in the laboratory, checking the properties of environmental sites to make sure that these areas are able to withstand their intended constructs.

Mateusz has already been accepted into Manhattan College and NJIT. This bright young man plans to graduate from college with a degree in Civil Engineering. Later, he will pursue a Masters in Structural Engineering and looks forward to working at an architectural firm.

When asked about the advice he has for others at PCTI, Matuesz said, “I’m ahead because of Tech. Make contacts and meet new people. Network. Be yourself and try your best!”

His words are full of wisdom. Congratulations Mateusz! May your ambition and dedication continue to burn bright! Spread your Bulldog pride to your classmates and beyond. You’re sure to succeed in all your future endeavors.
