Harris Sheikh is a bright young man whose fascination with mathematics has led him down the wonderful path of Electronics. As a member of the School of Applied Technology, Harris finds his greatest goal is to improve existing technology in order to make the world a better place. His love of designing components and new pieces of technology inspires him to go above and beyond in the technological field.
Harris moved to the United States in 2005 from Karachi, Pakistan. This Clifton native is dedicated to working hard and getting the very most from his education. Throughout his high school career, Harris has challenged himself academically by enrolling in eleven honors courses. He has earned ten college credits and was selected for Principal’s Honor Roll on numerous occasions. Harris has also achieved a superior standing that places him in the top one percent of his class.
He credits his affinity toward the technological to his love of mathematics. Calculus, in particular kindles an interest to discover, solve, and learn. These principles set a foundation for the way Harris interacts with the world around him. It is this, mixed with the easy availability of technology, which has drawn him to develop a passion for his field of study. “My greatest goal is to streamline technology for everyone in our society,” Harris said. He went on to explain that this includes improving products already on the market today, from Nano to Biotechnology, and the production of circuit boards.
This competitive approach to problem-solving can be traced back to Harris’ freshmen and sophomore years when he was selected to participate in the SkillsUSA competition. It was here that Harris took home the silver at the state level. This multilingual Bulldog is looking toward a very bright future. He has already been accepted into NJIT and Rutgers University New Brunswick. Upon graduating, Harris looks forward to attending a university and receiving a degree in Electronics/Engineering. He plans on working towards his Masters and then heading out to join the global workforce. When asked about the role PCTI played in his future, Harris said, "The diverse learning environment really gave me a jumpstart on my future. I wouldn't be where I am today if PCTI hadn't provided me with so many opportunities." Congratulations, Harris! Your passion and dedication will pave the pathway to success.
