On Wednesday, June 20th, students of Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) lined the auditorium eagerly anticipating their final trek onto Tech’s football field for the last time as seniors. The sun was high, the temperature pushed a hundred degrees, but nothing would dampen the spirits of 750 students and more than 3,000 guests. Parents, family, friends, teachers, faculty, and staff, braved the heat to share in the momentous occasion of graduating PCTI’s largest class yet - the Class of 2012!

The 48th Graduation Exercise opened with the traditional processional, followed by a welcome / flag salute by Co-Class President, Christian Gonzales. The National Anthem and PCTI’s Alma Mater were sung by the Tech Tone Choir. Soon after, graduating seniors sung a rendition of the senior song “I Got This,” by Jennifer Hudson.

Then, class representatives introduced the top students of 2012. First, Karolina Furdyna took the stage. The Salutatorian spoke about the importance of character and growth. She even gave a shout out to her parents in Polish. Afterwards, Valedictorian Fariha Choudhury received a warm reception from Co-Vice President Michael Ruiz. She was hailed for being one of the kindest young women in the Class of 2012. Her speech kindled the confidence of her peers and encouraged them to strive for greatness.

Following the student addresses, Principal Joe DiGise and Superintendent Diana C. Lobosco spoke about the importance of becoming great leaders in the community. Their key message stressed that learning is an ongoing process, no matter the path that students choose. Diana C. Lobosco expressed her confidence in the graduating class by adding that by working hard, they could achieve anything.
Then, it was time. Students were ushered by rows to receive their diplomas from Board of Education President Al Alexander and Vice President Damaris M. Solomon. They were assisted by Board Commissioners Leon Mondelli, Glenn Brown, and Robert Gilmartin.

Upon receiving their diplomas, students raised their hands in victory and proclaimed their achievement of graduation. Cheers erupted from the crowd as dreams four years in the making were realized. In closing remarks, students were reminded of the high school’s motto: PCTI, where learning has no limit! The Class of 2012 is bound for greatness. So long as they maintain a thirst for achievement, success will follow! Congratulations to the Class of 2012 and good luck in your futures
