Kaitlyn Lysaght is a young woman whose community service philosophy echoes throughout all areas of her life. She came to PCTI as a sophomore and has since become a proud member of the School of Communication Arts, majoring in Advertising Art & Design. With boundless kindness and creativity, this Hawthorne local is set on leaving her mark on the world.
It all started with a passion for helping others. As a freshman, Kaitlyn found herself drawn to nurturing environments. She began volunteering at St. Anthony’s church where she tackled service projects – visiting seniors at Van Dyks assisted living, painting, backyard cleanup projects, charity walks, and assisting in religious education classes. Her bubbly sweet personality perfectly complements her caring nature, inspiring all those she comes in contact with.
Upon her acceptance to PCTI, Kaitlin was set with making a tough decision. She auditioned for the School of Performing Arts and constructed a portfolio for the School of Communication Arts. To her surprise, she was accepted to both! It was here Kaitlin decided to move forward with her love of traditional artistry. She was drawn to combining her passion for landscapes and portraits with her other love: writing.
But that doesn’t mean that Kaitlyn gave up on pursuing the performing arts. She has been actively involved in all of PCTI’s spring musicals as an ensemble cast member. She is even part of the Performing Arts Club.
When questioned about her future plans, Kaitlyn explains that she would love to combine writing and art. “Writing is definitely easier for me. With art I have to try a lot harder to get everything just right.” Her ideal profession would be to become a novelist with the opportunity to design her own cover art. Kaitlyn is already well on her way. She has two novels in progress titled Layers of a Rose and Where the Wind Takes You.
This PCTI Bulldog is an ever active individual. Between schoolwork; her involvement in ERASE, GSA, & the National Honor Society; and a variety community service projects, she still maintains a good academic standing.
Kaitlyn has been accepted to William Paterson University, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Montclair State University. She plans to major in English and to pursue a minor in Art.
Her advice for others is as follows, “You don’t have to be anybody but yourself. Keep trying and you’re sure to succeed!”
