Bulldog SpotlightJulia LoJulia is freshman on the Varsity Girls Swim Team. She is ruling the competition in distance freestyle events, winning all 4 events in her opening meet! Her fierce talent and attitude in the pool is setting the groundwork for the team to have a winning season! Julia is a student of the STEM Engineering pathway. In her free time, she is in club swim for the Wayne YMCA Bluestreaks. We look forward to Julia and the girls swim team having a great season as they continue to Level Up! Adam KissCongratulations to December Student Athlete of the Month Adam Kiss! Adam is a Junior on the Varsity Boys Swim Team. An all-county winner, Adam dominates in the pool breaking 3 school records last season and playing a key role in PCTI’s 4th sectional title! His talent and work ethic are setting the pace for a great season! Adam a is a student of PCTI’s Academy of Finance. In his free time, he is in club swim for Scarlett Aquatics. We look forward to Adam and the boys swim team having a great season as they continue to Level Up! Francesca CorderoCongratulations to December’s Student Athlete of the Month Francesca Cordero! Francesca is freshman on the Varsity Girls Swim Team. She’s dominated the competition in the IM and breaststroke. In her opening meet Francesca won all 4 of her events. Her fierce competitiveness and energy in the pool is laying the foundation for the team to have a winning season! Out of the pool, Francesca is a student of PCTI’s Academy of Health & Medical Sciences and a member of HOSA and ROTC. In her free time Francesca is in club swim for Scarlett Aquatics. We look forward to Francesca and the girls swim team having a great season as they continue to Level Up! Michael KirtsisCongratulations to November’s Student Athlete of the Month Michael Kirtsis! Michael Kirtsis is a 3-year Varsity starter for the PCTI football team. He holds the position of wide receiver and linebacker for the team. This season Michael has had 19 receptions for 300 yards on offense and 15 tackles on defense. His constant effort on the field has helped PCTI Bulldogs become North Group 5 State Champions! Michael is a team player and true Bulldog as he is also part of the winter track, spring track, and lacrosse teams. Off the field Michael is a student of Computer Science for STEM and enjoys hanging out with his friends in his free time. Next year Michael plans on playing football at the collegiate level and majoring in visual arts for sports medicine. Congratulations on a great season Michael! Quamar AyscueCongratulations to November’s Student Athlete of the Month Quamar Ayscue! Quamar Ayscue is a 3-year varsity starter for the PCTI football team. Holding the position of defensive line tackle and end. This season Quamar has had 55 tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 interception that turned into a game winning play! Quamar’s hard work on the field has assisted the PCTI Bulldogs as they became the North Group 5 State Champions! A senior for PCTI’s School of Automotive Technology, Quamar spends his spare time split between working his afterschool job and collecting sneakers. Next year Quamar plans on playing football at the collegiate level and studying sports science Congratulations on a great season Quamar! Ray’Sun BeltonCongratulations to November’s Student Athlete of the Month Ray’Sun Belton! Ray’Sun Belton is a 3-year Varsity letter winner and team leader. He holds the position of Quarterback and wide receiver. This season Ray’Sun has had 43 completions for 500 yards and 3 touchdowns leading the team to a 7-2 record! Ray’Sun’s continuous leadership and determination has supported the PCTI Bulldogs as they became North Group 5 State Champions! A senior of PCTI’s Academy of Criminal Justice, Ray’Sun spends his free time relaxing and hanging out with friends. Next year, Ray’Sun plans on playing collegiate football and majoring in business or sports management. Congratulations on a great season Ray’Sun Taylor VantakCongratulations to November’s Student Athlete of the Month Taylor Vantak! Taylor Vantak has been a fall cheerleader for 4 years and has been on the competitive cheer team for 3 years. Taylor’s position on the cheer team is base and back spot for stunting. Her favorite stunt to perform is the basket toss! Taylor is a valued member of the team, working hard to help create cheers, come up with new ideas and establish positive team bonding! A senior at PCTI’s School of Cosmetology, Taylor spends her free time practicing her cosmetology skills focusing on hair and color. Next year she plans on continuing to cheer in college and major in business as she hopes to open her own hair salon in the future. Congratulations Taylor! Christian AdameChristian is a Captain of PCT’s varsity boys’ soccer team and holds the position of striker. In his first four games, Christian had a goal and two assists - an integral part of the Bulldog attack. Using his skill, physicality, “non-stop mentality” and knowledge of the game, he runs the offense, creating havoc for defenders tasked to mark him. As one of the captains, he has tremendous leadership qualities and continuously leads by example on and off the field. Off the field Christian is a student of PCTI’s Engineering program. In his spare time, he like to remain active by bike riding or hiking. Next year Christian plans to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level where he plans to study Computer Science or IT. We look forward to Christian’s growth in his soccer skills as he continues to Level Up! Olivia DragoneOlivia is a center mid-fielder for the lady’s soccer team. In her first four games Olivia has two goals and two assists so far showing she will be a solid force on the soccer pitch this season. A dedicated Bulldog, Olivia also plays basketball and softball. A student of PCTI’s Medical Arts program in her spare time, Olivia likes to volunteer with dogs and is also part of the PCTVS soccer club and a member of the NJ Stallions Soccer club. Olivia aspires to play soccer at the collegiate level. Her positive attitude, dedication, and ability to adapt are traits that make a great athlete on and off the field. We look forward to Olivia having a great season as she continues to Level Up! Sasha PollockCongratulations to October’s Student Athlete of the Month Sasha Pollock! Sasha is a captain for PCTVS’s girls Field Hockey team and holds the position of goalie. She has racked up 273 saves in 15 games so far this season, with one shut-out. Sasha is a vocal leader, guiding the defense and leading the team through warmups. Sasha’s constant motivation keeps the team competitive through their earned wins! Off the field, Sasha is a Junior of PCTI’s School of Education & Human Services: Child Development program. A true Bulldog, Sasha also plays Varsity basketball and lacrosse. She is a member of E.R.A.S.E, the Environmental Club, and the National World Honor Society. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Special Olympics. We look forward to Sasha and the girls’ field hockey team having a great season as they continue to Level Up! Fabiana AyalaCongratulations to October’s Student Athlete of the Month Fabiana Ayala! Fabiana is an outside and middle hitter for the girls’ volleyball team. Her fierce competitiveness and energy on and off the volleyball court are qualities that make her a great athlete! Outside of the court, Fabiana is a Senior at PCTI’S Academy of Finance and a member of E.R.A.S.E and World Language Honor Society. Fabiana plans to study psychology and biology in college and hopes to attend medical school. We look forward to Fabiana’s and the girls’ volleyball team having a great season as they continue to Level Up! Trinity ClackenTrinity Clacken is a four-year varsity starter who is a dynamic basketball forward. She is a strong leader, and a Captain for Coach Iurato’s Girls Basketball team in her senior year. Trinity has been a major contributor to the team’s outstanding start to the season, the team is currently 6-3 overall and should qualify as a top seed in the County and State tournament. Trinity is currently averaging 12.1 PPG with 6.4 RPG this season. On January 6, 2021, she scored a season-high 21 points in a victory over our rival Lady Mustangs of Clifton High School. Trinity leads our team in two-pointers (30) and free throws made (31) this season. For her career, Trinity has 442 points and 440 rebounds and we are still counting. Trinity, a resident of Clifton, is a student-athlete in the PCTI -Academy of Criminal Justice and boasts a 3.5 GPA. She would like to continue her athletic and academic career at either Stockton, Adelphi, or Alvernia University. The Athletic department would like to wish Trinity and the entire Lady Bulldogs Basketball team all the best in this winter’s season. Mason KatzMason Katz is a first-year varsity starter who as a freshman earned a role as a dominating starting goaltender for the Bulldog Ice Hockey Team. Mason is a big part of the freshmen tandem in goal that has created a good deal of success in this young program’s team history. The team is currently 11-8-1 and qualified for the PCCA County tournament as the #2 seed overall, they would eventually advance to the finals of the tournament as “runner-up” to Wayne. Mason owns a special part of school history as he currently has the team’s first ever shutout victory, a 9-0 win over state powerhouse Chatham to open the 2021-2022 season. Mason would follow that with his 2nd shutout over Ridgewood High School later in the season with a 2-0 victory over the Maroons. As a Bulldog, Mason has faced 236 shots and made 217 saves over ten game appearances, he has earned a save percentage of .919 which ranks among the best goaltenders in state. Mason, a resident of Wayne, is a student-athlete in the School of Engineering Technology and currently in Project Lead the Way as Freshmen with a 3.75 GPA. The Athletic department would like to wish Mason and the entire Bulldogs Ice Hockey team the best in this winter’s season. |
