October Student of the Month 2014

Kelly Franco

Kelly Franco is a brilliant young woman whose journey for self-betterment has put her on the pathway to success. Hailing from Paterson, this member of the School of Education and Human Services has struck the precarious balance between, schoolwork, volunteerism, and her life’s passion.

“It all started with my desire to become a Psychologist,” Kelly explained. Naturally, it made sense to focus on a career that deals primarily with the mental and physical development of children. “I also really enjoy working with students,” she added, smiling.

For the past four years, Kelly has delved into all the opportunities afforded to her by PCTI. She has enrolled herself in numerous clubs and activities, including ERASE, the Environmental Club, GSA, and SkillsUSA – of which she’s held positions of leadership. Kelly was widely recognized first as an eager representative; then she became the Chapter Reporter. She currently holds the position of PCTI’s Chapter Vice President!

All her hard work has earned her a GPA that exceeds 4.0 and a class rank among the top nine percent of her peers! Kelly has achieved numerous semesters on Principal’s Honor Roll as well as stellar grades in both honors and AP courses. In addition, she is a proud member of the Tennis and Swim teams and enjoys donating her time to many acts of volunteerism.

When asked about her experience at PCTI, Kelly said, “If it weren’t for the School of Education and Human Services, I would have never discovered my true passion for Neuroscience.” She elaborated that her desire to explore what goes on in a person’s mind will be the focus of her future studies. “I can’t wait to continue my learning, as well as get involved in some hands on lab work.”

Kelly looks forward to pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. In the future, she will work towards her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Neuroscience.

When asked about the impact of her four years in Bulldog Country, Kelly’s face was aglow, “I discovered my independence with the help of instructors who really care about the success of their students. The availability of extensive opportunities and activities has allowed me to become the person I am today.”

Congratulations to Kelly Franco, a dedicated young woman with her eyes on the prize. We look forward to your future successes!
