PCTI has declared the Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. The honor goes to seventeen year Social Studies Instructor, Jay Rosenfeld!

Jay received his Bachelors in History and Communications from Ramapo College and his Masters in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey. He entered teaching as a second career in 1997, throughout which he has taught all levels of U.S. and World History, including AP and Honors.

This veteran educator is tremendously attentive to his students’ needs. A day in his life traditionally includes arriving on campus at 5:45am and staying past 4pm. He even takes work with him wherever he goes, proving his dedication to student education triumphs over all.

Jay Rosenfeld is a fantastic role model to all his students and colleagues, both in and outside of the classroom. When not teaching, Jay can be found serving on numerous committees at PCTI, including the Social Studies Textbook Selection Committee, the Character Education Committee, the Principal’s Teacher Liaison Committee, and the Principal’s Forward Committee. He is also advisor for SLICE (Student Leaders Improving Character Education) and the TI Leadership Group and frequently volunteers as a youth coach in football, baseball, and basketball.

On his instruction philosophy, Jay had this to say, “I aim to create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere that fosters growth and learning, all while modeling my expectations in character and responsibility. My goal is that my students are well-prepared to enter the world after high school. I find it gratifying that as a teacher I impact my students, and they, in turn, motivate me to become both a better person and a better educator.”

Congratulations to Jay Rosenfeld, a dedicated teacher, colleague, friend, and PCTI’s Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015!
